Stunning Extruded Celluloid Vintage Button Necklace

Stunning necklace hand-crafted from Extruded Celluloid Vintage Buttons Circa 1920’s - 30s. Extruded celluloid was produced by squeezing liquid celluloid like toothpaste from a tube and each button was individually hand-crafted. The large ivory-coloured buttons used in this piece came straight from the cards the buttons were originally purchased on, these are in absolutely mint condition, despite being produced in the 1930s! This necklace is a wonderful example of the skill of the celluloid button makers at this time. The necklace is constructed using plastic tubular thread and coated nickel plated wire, which has been threaded through the buttons, where possible, for additional security. It is finished with a silver-plated parrot clasp fastener. Not only is this unique necklace beautiful to look at and wonderful to wear, the buttons used in its construction are rare and highly sought after by collectors.
